It's easier to wash (and looks more resilient) than the drum filters on earlier models. 5. I suspect that there's nothing wrong with it being like this, particularly if dyson are happy to provide a 5 year warranty. But, it does feel, well, cheap. The seam in the handle, just where thumb and forefinger sit, has a sharpish edge to it, nothing that's ever going to cause any harm, but it does feel uncomfortable. .
